Speaking and training

Training for reporters and researchers

The way journalists and newsrooms gather information has changed in the recent past. In addition to traditional work with sources and documents, reporters now have a vast resource in social media and other online sources.

My trainings are aimed at providing an out-of-the box skill set to reporters and researchers who want to get started in online investigations. This includes monitoring, advanced search, geo- and chrono- location, researching Telegram, as well as working with image and video verification. The courses can last an hour, half a day, a full day, or two days depending on the needs of your organization. I’m comfortable teaching in English, Ukrainian, and Russian.

Past students have told me that my courses have enabled them to tackle major investigations and become more comfortable using open-source research approaches in their newsrooms.

I also speak to global audiences about the issues of disinformation and media manipulation, open-source investigations, and reporting on Russia’s war on Ukraine.
